Chris Botti is a well-known jazz and smooth jazz composer and trumpeter that originates from Portland, Oregon. As of 2006, Chris Botti has succeeded to record and release eight solo albums. His first few efforts could safely be classified as smooth jazz, though critic Alex Henderson argues that Botti's music was a cut above much of the genre.
